Tiraspol, 12 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Yevgeny Shevchuk received a delegation of the Orthodox clergy, led by Metropolitan Bishop of Chişinău and all Moldova Vladimir. The metropolitan bishop is on official visit in Pridnestrovie, the president's press service reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, following an exchange of mutual greetings, the president of the PMR expressed words of sincere gratitude to Metropolitan Bishop of Chişinău and All Moldova Vladimir for his assistance in organizing Patriarch Kirill's two-day visit to Pridnestrovie in September, 2013. «It was really a historic event. The Orthodox republics recall this visit with certain trepidation," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
In the course of the dialogue current issues of the diocese's life were discussed. The interlocutors first of all discussed the construction of new and reconstruction of old churches, the reconstruction of churches and parishes in Pridnestrovie. Metropolitan Bishop of Chişinău and All Moldova Vladimir in his turn thanked President Yevgeny Shevchuk for the personal attention and support he gives to the Orthodox Church. «I know what is being built from the south to the west of Pridnestrovie, know how much you have done. Of course, you are doing it to consolidate and bring closer the people," said the metropolitan bishop.
Special attention was given to spiritual matters. The situation in and around Pridnestrovie was also discussed during the meeting.
Later today, on the commemoration day of St Prince Alexander Nevsky and his son Daniel of Moscow, the president congratulated Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva on the 21st anniversary of episcopal consecration.
