Tiraspol, 2 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian president met the delegation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, comprising the general secretary, head of the MFA's staff Semyon Afian, chairman of the permanent commission of the NKR parliament Arthur Tovmasyan and representative of the NKR parliament to Armenia Karen Topchyan. The meeting was also attended by Pridnestrovie's foreign minister Vitaly Ignatyev, the president's press service reports.
The guests came to Pridnestrovie to participate in the events dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the republic. Yevgeny Shevchuk was given a salutary address on the Day of Republic by Nagorno-Krabakh President Bako Saakyan.
Yevgeny Shevchuk thanked the delegation for the visit and congratulated the representatives of the sister nation on Artsakh Day — the 25th anniversary of the country. Today, 2 September, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is celebrating its Independence Day. «Our republics have been maintaining close relations for a long time despite geographical remoteness. Pridnestrovie has always backed the people of the NKR, sympathised with everything which happens in your country," said the Pridnestrovian president.
During the meeting the sides discussed the country's current situation, the tasks facing the republic's leadership in the spheres of economy and social security. Addressing to Yevgeny Shevchuk, Semyon Afian paid attention to qualitative changes in the Pridnestrovian capital's appearance and in particular to programmes for urban infrastructure improvement and social projects implementation. The representative of the NKR parliament to Armenia, Karen Topchyan, said in his turn: «We are always happy about the progress of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. We watch the situation in Pridnestrovie and are sure you'll manage to complete the work. It is not my first time in Pridnestrovie, and over the past year the capital has changed and become more beautiful and comfortable.»
The president also discussed with the NKR representatives issues related to the development and maintenance of partnership relations between the two states. The meeting was conducted in a constructive spirit and was crowned with strong handshakes.
