Tiraspol, 9 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The National Payment System (NPS), introduced by the president's decree a year ago, rapidly develops, encompassing more and more sales organisations and banks in the country. This subject was discussed today at a cabinet meeting, the government's press service reports.
The NPS currently incorporates Eximbank, Pridnestorvsky Sberbank and Ipotechniy Bank, which joined the system in April. According to the head of PRB's national payment system department, Alexey Kochetov, 25,000 payment cards have been issued since 2015 so far.
«The system's turnover in May, for example, amounted to 80 million roubles," said the bank's manager.
Besides, the cards can be used in Russia as part of the PRO100 system. The turnover on Russian transactions totalled 41 million Russian roubles last month.
According to Aleksey Kochetov, the PRB is continuing now to expand the network of POS terminals in sales organisations. At the current stage, their turnover makes less than 1% of the aggregate number of transactions.
«The main task which was set upon the launch of the national system is to increase the share of non-cash turnover, enhance economic activities, transparency and tax payments," said Aleksey Kochetov.
NPS terminals can be installed in organisations with the area size of no less than 50 sq m and annual revenues of over 6.6 million roubles. Only 893 sales organisations correspond to such criteria, and only 150 of them (16.8%) have had POS terminals installed.
Government members also discussed prospects for broadening the list of facilities where POS terminals could be installed for the convenience of citizens.
