Pridnestrovian delegation takes part in Baku's anti-TB seminar

The seminar was organised for authorities and doctors engaged in planning and providing anti-tuberculosis assistance in penitentiary facilities

Tiraspol, 24 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The 2nd International Training Course for authorities and doctors engaged in planning and providing anti-tuberculosis assistance in penitentiary facilities took place in Baku from 16 to 20 May.

As the press service of the Healthcare Ministry reports, the seminar was attended by the part-time phthisiatrician of Pridnestrovie's Healthcare Ministry, head of Republican Tuberculosis Hospital, Nelli Obevzenko, and representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the PMR.

The training's subject matter was the enhancement of TB treatment in penitentiary facilities for patients with multiple drug resistance and broad drug resistance and the application of new anti-TB medications to such citizens.

«The five days of teaching turned out very productive. We visited three penitentiary facilities in Baku and saw the whole process: from detecting TB to the end of treatment. The training was organised at the highest level, all materials were based on recommendations by the World Health Organisation," said Nelli Obevzenko.

It should be noted that Pridnstrovie takes special government-backed measures to combat tuberculosis. Among them are the special-purpose program «Tuberculosis prophylaxis for 2016−2012», the procurement of 4 X-ray and 10 photofluorographic units in 2014, the construction of new anti-TB facilities in Bendery and Rybnitsa under the auspices of ANO Eurasian Integration.
