Tiraspol, 29 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today Kishinev's OSCE Mission has hosted this year's first meeting of expert working groups on customs cooperation. The meeting was attended by representatives of mediators and observers in the negotiation process.
At Moldova's initiative, meeting participants exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in sharing statistical information about foreign economic activities, including trade between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
In its turn, the Pridnestrovian side informed all participants, including mediators and observers, on predicted risks arising from a discriminatory decision made by Moldova and Ukraine to organise a joint customs control at the Kuchurgan checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border.
Special accent was placed on economic and trade risks, freedom of movement problems for both citizens and vehicles, as well as security issues. Pridnestrovie voiced an appeal to the Moldovan side and outer participants of the 5+2 format to prevent the implementation of this dangerous project and the development of crisis scenarios.
In this respect, the establishment of the joint checkpoint in Kuchurgan is regarded as groundless in the event of the exchange of information on foreign trade statistics between the customs authorities of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
According to the press service of the MFA, the sides have agreed to report their leadership about the results of the talks and, in case of mutual interest in the progress on the above issues, to continue discussing them at the upcoming meetings.
