Tiraspol, 28 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. An operative and preventive operation Kurs 2016 has been under way in Pridnestrovie since 21 March. Its goal is to prevent currency speculations leading to ungrounded exchange rate hikes, which adversely affects pricing.
The economic crime department of the Interior Ministry and central bank representatives have been inspecting exchange offices to reveal refusals to sell currency to customers and the surplus of cash. According to the press centre of the Interior Ministry, 16 persons were brought to account last week for illegal exchange operations in Tiraspol.
The ministry recalls that upon detection of illegal exchange transactions both the person who sells or buys currency and the person who exchanges currency are subject to administrative liability in the form of fines.
