Tiraspol, 1 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Gifted youth can and must be involved in solving the country's problems, including economic ones, said the president during a meeting with presidential grant holders today. He pointed out that the Pridnestrovian economy is in the doldrums, and the country's leadership does not have all levers of influence. And taking the ongoing processes into account, this year promises to be even more difficult. Under these circumstances, according to the president, a piece of advice from though beginning but bursting with ideas economists will be very handy.
«Organise a body of most active members and we, together with government members, will meet them so that students could be deeply involved in solving the country's economic problems. A subject matter of these meetings will vary, depending on what students are most interested in — macroeconomics, banking, etc. And let us have the first meeting next week," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
He also noted that holding a contest for Pridnestrovie's socio-economic development programme last year, in which students also took part, was a very useful experience.
In the course of the meeting the head of state emphasised that it is the good education that forms the knowledge base helping young people find their way in the avalanche of everyday information.
«It helps sort the wheat from the chaff and resist various provocations, when economic hardships are used for some political speculations," said the president.
Affordable housing for young teachers is another topical issue. According to Yevgeniy Shevchuk, today the state needs about $50−80 million to provide housing to all persons in the queue.
«We do not have such an opportunity today, but I want to emphasise that Tiraspol has seen over the past three years a certain positive trend in apartment houses construction," he said.
A number of other issues were also discussed during the meeting.
