Tiraspol, 12 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Speaking at a board meeting of the prosecutor's office, the prosecutor of the republic, Alexander Deli, stated that if 12,000 crimes were registered in 2000, last year there were about 4,000 crimes.
Alexander Deli also noted citizens' trust to the prosecutor's office, which is proved by an increased number of citizens' requests. Last year 5,787 complaints were filed to the prosecutor's office.
He particularly emphasised that it was complainants' rights that are the most vulnerable. For example, last year 15 appeals against the court's sentences submitted by convicts to the office were contested, whereas 177 requests for the refusal to initiate criminal proceedings were granted.
Last year the prosecutor's office called 100 public officials for disciplinary account and 77 more for administrative account. Among the latter are 11 officers of the court. Alexander Deli mentioned a heavy workload — 4−5 executive case a day per one officer — among the reasons for their misdeeds.
Meanwhile, the majority of cases are related to reparation of damages due to traffic accidents. And the prosecutor particularly highlighted the cases when the debtor conveys his property to his relatives and becomes insolvent. The way out of this situation is, according to Alexander Deli, the legislative introduction of motor third party liability insurance. It should be recalled that the prosecutor called on the deputy corps to speed up the passage of the corresponding law last Wednesday when he replied to MP Petrik's request about the legitimacy of MTPL insurance introduced in Pridnestrovie last year.
