Moldavan delegation in JCC doesn't explain the Varnitsa incident

Last Thursday, officers of Pridnestrovie's law enforcement authority were stopped and frisked in Varnitsa

Bendery, 11 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A session of the Joint Control Commission was held in Bendery. Delegations continued discussing the issue concerning the freedom of movement in the Security Zone. As the JCC cochairman from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov noted during the conversation with journalists, the Moldavan side had withdrawn its own offers made a week before.

«The situation became more complicated in the JCC. The rhetoric of the Moldavan delegation has changed absolutely. We see that in fact they withdraw the offers distributed by themselves in the written form at the last meeting. It is very surprising," Oleg Belyakov told.

In his opinion, when delaying the solution of this issue, representatives of Kishinev do everything not to consider other issues concerning the peacekeeping activity, such as the plan of the main actions of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, final assessment of operational availability and so on.

«Moldavan side wants these mechanisms to be stalled. That's why the Moldavan side blocks the JCC's work," the cochairman told.

He also told that the Pridnestrovie's side had brought up an issue concerning the incident in Varnitsa a week ago. For 2 hours, the Moldavan police officers were checking the Pridnestrivie's law enforcement officers who were the members of the Joint Operational Investigations Group.

«When we inquired about the detention of the Pridnestrovie's JOIG members by the police officers in the Varnitsa we didn't receive any clear explanation about it. We proved to the Moldavan side that they were members of the Operational Investigations Group. The bases for their detention and check weren't provided by the Moldavan side. We tend to believe that it is a beginning of some certain actions aiming to create incidents in the Security Zone," Oleg Belyakov emphasized.

According to the head of the Pridnestrovie's delegation, the delegation's offers on the abovementioned draft decision concerning the freedom of movement show that the Moldavan colleagues predict the complication of the situation.
