Oleg Matveychev: Russia has a good chance to recognize Pridnestrovie

The Russian political strategist, professor of the Higher School of Economics considers that it would be reasonable in response to "the Moldavan Maidan"

Russia has a good chance to recognize the independence of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Famous Russian political strategist, professor of the Higher School of Economics Oleg Matveychev expressed such opinion in his interview to the Noviy Den news agency. According to him, it would be reasonable in response to «the Moldavan Maidan» which had been a reaction to one of the USA's attempt to build new state authorities in the republic illegally.

«Russia should continue acting the same way as it did before according to the rule that every American act of lawlessness will be countered insofar as it will be brought to nought or even have a boomerang effect," Matveychev told.

He reminded that Georgia's attack against the Russian peacekeepers, as a result, turned into the recognition of the Abkhazian and South Ossetian independence.

«They organised a Maidan in Ukraine, but then got the referendum in the Crimea and the separation of Donbass. They want to get claws into Moldova, in response they take recognition of Pridnestrovie!» Matveychev emphasized.

In his opinion, the mechanism of recognition of the PMR is simple: according to the results of two referenda, the Pridnestrovie's parliament resorts to Russia, and Russia recognizes Pridnestrovie's independence.

«The next step — in case of further «flossing» — joining of Pridnestrovie to the Russian Federation," Matveychev also added.

«It is necessary to 'tame' Americans, it is necessary to make them clear that any attack against us will turn into hundredfold losses for them, so that Washington didn't even had try to do harm to us," Matveychev concluded.
