Dmitry Palamarchuk: "Republic of Moldova has been looking for an opportunity to provide own presence on the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border for many years"

Pridnestrovie's Deputy Foreign Minister wrote it in the article «The joint Moldavian-Ukrainian checkpoints on the Pridnestrovie's border and the Pridnestrovie's Eurasian integration course. Challenges and risks».

Along with it, the diplomat emphasized that there wasn't any negotiation agreements between Pridnestrovie and the Moldova noting that the Pridnestrovie's party agreed to establish joint Moldavian-Ukrainian control on the eastern border. He also reminded that, once, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine had tried to establish joint customs control at the Kuchurgan Checkpoint at the beginning of the millennium, however the representatives of Moldova were immediately pushed out from there.

«Today, the framework established by the negotiation scheme is unlikely to influence the strategy of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in dialogue with Pridnestrovie any more. The way of pressure directed on the violent decision of not always reasonably and pragmatically established purposes and tasks outside the negotiations is chosen," the deputy minister stated.

Dmitry Palamarchuk also noted that the adoption of the Resolution of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers No. 117 restricting import of excise goods through the Ukrainian checkpoints, introduction of the border-crossing ban between Moldova and Ukraine for the cars registered in Pridnestrovie and attempt to organize joint control at the Kuchurgan Checkpoint are components of a uniform pressing strategy against Pridnestrovie. «We believe that the steps taken by the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine today constitute the intimidation strategy against Pridnestrovie providing political concessions using economic tools. The developing situation continues the paradigm of economic pressure against Pridnestrovie most intensively implemented since 2006," the diplomat emphasized.
