«Not once did Russia propose Pridnestrovian settlement plans. The most famous is the plan elaborated by Dmitry Kozak in 2003, the so called Kozak plan, aimed at normalising the situation. Hwoever, Moldova's commitment to the EU integration precludes from holding a full-scale political dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova that may lead to areas of common interest," said Viktor Ozerov.
He stated that all Russia's attempts to settle the conflict are not supported by official Kishinev.
In addition, he believes, Ukraine, a Pridnestrovian neighbour, is catalysing the escalation of the conflict today, «utterly showing the lack of interest in solving Pridnestrovie's problem.»
«Its policy is only worsening the situation of people living in Pridnestrovie as the search for a solution to the Pridnestrovian conflict may not take place at the negotiating table, but lead to the escalation of tension," underscored the Russian senator.
«In this regard, this seems to be the case when the international community must realise the significance of solving this issue through joint efforts of the EU, Russia and other states concerned," he added.
