In particular, the president commented on the accusations made by Ukrainian MPs against Pridnestrovie of interfering into Ukraine's domestic affairs.
«I want to emphasise it one more time: Pridnestrovie has always pursued a policy of non-interference. The conflict in the east of Ukraine is the internal problem of Ukraine, and, in our opinion, Ukrainian citizens must settle this conflict on their own," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
According to him, the statements made by Ukrainian officials are affecting the peaceful settlement in the region and, it is possible, are a preparation for something bigger, for example, toughening of Pridnestrovie's blockade.
«Unfortunately, some politicians misinforming the public are Ukrainian officials. Moreover, they are trying to persuade the international community of it. It is possible that, due to a serious domestic crisis, a number of Ukrainian officials cannot refuse militant rhetoric and are using Pridnestrovie to blackmail their European and American partners," said the president.
The president mentioned that for nearly 17 years Ukrainian military observers have been present in Pridnestrovie. They are members of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces and can freely move along and across Pridnestrovie. If Ukrainian observers did know some facts, they could publicly present them at the international platform provided by the Joint Control Commission in the presence of the OSCE and conduct a public analysis of the facts by all participants of the peacekeeping operation," noted the president, adding that Pridnestrovie is ready for it.
«Moreover, not once did we propose and send official proposals to the OSCE to hold a monitoring of the situation, including the situation on the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border, and make sure that Pridnestrovie is not making any military preparations," underscored the president.
«They are trying to intimidate us, spread fear and doubts to control us. A number of external impulses aim to undermine our national interests, including by launching 'a virus of maidan scenarios'. The result of this work we can see in the neighbouring countries. Our national interest is a peaceful and constructive development of our country. Our priority is developing and strengthening economic and cultural relations with our neighbours, Moldova and Ukraine, eliminating any barriers restricting citizens' movement, trade and economic relations," added Yevgeny Shevchuk.
According to the president, there is a very ambiguous situation in Moldova. In particular, the Moldovan armed forces were alarmed in the Security Zone the other day. Taking into account this fact and the increasing number of similar cases involving the Moldovan armed forces' movements in the Security Zone, the head of state has resolved to strengthen the protection of Pridnestrovie's vitally important facilities.
