Accompanied by the education minister, the premier visited Slobodzeya School 2 and Prvomaysk School 1. The guests presented 10th and 11th grade students with new textbooks supplied within the framework of the Textbook programme. It is recalled the programme became possible thanks to the personal initiative of the president, Yevgeny Shevchuk, and the assistance of Russia's vice premier, Dmitry Rogozin.
On the whole, Pridnestrovie has received over 517,000 modern Russian textbooks. Pupils of primary and secondary schools were the first to receive new literature.
«To conclude this large-scale project, we present textbooks to 10th and 11th grade students — these are 68,600 books altogether across Pridnestrovie. Receiving this literature is very important to us as these new generation books meet the latest standards and, thus, help our children to prepare better for final exams," said the education minister, Tatyana Tsivinskaya.
She underscored that never before has Pridnestrovie witnessed such a large-scale replacement of textbooks in all Russian-language schools. The same refers to repair works that started in 33 social facilities, first of all education institutions, in September and include the replacement of windows and doors, repairs to roofs, painting of facades. In some schools as, for example, in the Pervomaysk school interior works are also performed. Soon the first floor of one of school buildings is going to be put in commission here. It has stood empty for nearly 20 years.
«We had to close it because the roof was leaking. Now the repairs are under way here. The windows have already been replaced, the doors are being replaced now. There are electrical works and building and assembly operations inside the building at the moment. In summer we completely replaced the heating system. Putting in commission this building will solve several problems at once: lack of study rooms and children's extraclass activities. Besides study rooms, we will arrange here a branch of the artistic school," said the principal of Pervomaysk School 1, Tatyana Baranova.
And all this would become possible owing to the presidential programme aimed at the reconstruction of education and healthcare facilities, the prime minister said to the students.
Tatyana Turanskaya underscored that throughout its history Pridnestrovie had not seen such large-scale investments in both areas.
«Yesterday we visited three schools in Bendery, one in Tiraspol, and now two in Slobodzeya district. Even now there are certain results of the work within the presidential programme. First of all, this refers to the creation of more convenient environment for schoolchildren. The president determined two areas — healthcare and education — as priorities, and now we can see the changes that have taken place in these four years, said the head of government.
Tatyana Turanskaya also mentioned that back in 2013 the Russo-Pridnestrovian humanitarian programme aimed at repairing and building 25 social facilities, for the most part kindergartens, was successfully implemented.
