The participants noted it is the first time so much attention is given to Pridnestrovie's education. According to the minister of education, Tatyana Tsivinskaya, in the past three years over 870 million roubles has been invested into the development of education from extra-budgetary sources, which is many times greater than from the budget.
For instance, the Textbook programme, which became possible due to the initiative of Yevgeny Shevchuk and personal assistance of Dmitry Rogozin, has helped to provide all 130 Russian-language schools with modern textbooks. On the whole, 517,000 copies have been supplied to schools, most of all, in Tiraspol and Bendery.
According to heads of education departments, pupils of primary and secondary schools received new didactic literature in September, and high school students receive now.
If the presidential programme Textbook has solved the long-standing problem with literature deficiency, the project School, also implemented on the president's instructions, will help many education institutions to cope with even more difficult issue — repairs. About 30 schools will be repaired from extra-budgetary sources as part of this programme.
It was noted that not only municipal, but also countryside schools would acquire new roofs, windows and facades. The repair works started in September and are to be completed by 1 November, before it gets cold.
«It seems such large-scale repairs of schools have not been done in the entire history of Pridnestrovie," said Tatyana Tsivinskaya.
She said it is over the past three years when such fundamental investments to schools' infrastructure have been made.
«First of all, owing to the Russian assistance, we have managed to reconstruct and thoroughly repaired 25 objects, chiefly, kindergartens. Secondly, it is the construction of seven objects (five kindergartens and two schools) by ANO Eurasian Integration, and finally it is this very presidential programme aimed at repairing schools. I wish to note all the three projects have been made possible thanks to the initiative of Yevgeny Shevchuk and their implementation is under his personal control," underscored the minister.
