The president held a meeting with heads of Pridnestrovie's municipal and regional state administrations. During the meeting the president announced his decision to launch a project for the establishment of a chain of social food shops Veteran. At the first stage the project will be implemented in Pridnestrovie' major cities.
Yevgeny Shevchuk noted that due to the difficult socio-economic situation more and more citizens request the Presidential Administration to consider in this or that way issues related to material backing.
«Following these requests I gave instructions to launch the project and open the first shop in Rybnitsa. We have already received positive feedback from pensioners. But the citizens from other cities and districts also request us to open additional social shops in their localities. This is why I have taken a decision to start the implementation of the project for the promotion of the chain of social food shops Veteran," said the president.
The head of state underscored that at the first stage the chain of shops will be created in major cities.
«The task of Bendery, Tiraspol and Slobodzeya authorities is to find municipal premises if possible in cities' center and at easily accessible locations where we can open food shops within a short space of time. The shops will sell food products at a very low price with minimum extra charge, sometimes with no extra charge at all on the general group of products. The shops will serve Pridnestrovian pensioners on presentation of a pension card," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
The president also clarified that some groups of food products that can be bought in Moldova and Ukraine are twice as cheap as in Pridnestrovie's commercial chains.
«The government has carried out such an analysis. We see that not all commercial shops realise the necessity of reducing prices for food products to support pensioners. Some companies, while reducing prices for pensioners, introduce high extra charges on other groups of products for other categories of population. I regard it as a serious failure in trade organisation that all our distribution networks are private," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
The president mentioned in this regard another project that is successfully under way — the chain of public pharmacies.
«Practice has showed that even with insufficient funding we achieve some price reduction for medications," said the head of state.
In this connection Yevgeny Shevchuk noted that coordinated cooperation of the government and heads of state administrations is required to fulfil the assigned tasks. I am charging the government to work out required legal framework. The establishment of the chain of social shops must provide product alternative to pensioners. This is what the presidential project aims at," said Yevgeny Shevchuk.
