A constructive cooperation has been established between Pridnestrovie and the German embassy on a number fronts
Yevgeny Shevchuk received a delegation of Germany's ministry of foreign affairs. During the meeting the president was introduced to the German foreign ministry's envoy on Eastern Europe, Caucus and Central Asia, Andreas Peschke, who took up the post in July 2015. Germany's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Moldova, Ulrike Maria Knotz, also participated in the meeting. Besides the president, Pridnestrovie was also represented by the acting foreign minister, Vitaliy Ignatyev, the president's press service clarifies.
While welcoming the German delegation, the president noted that there has been a constructive cooperation on many fronts between Pridnestrovie and the German embassy. The head of state emphasised the fact that a direct exchange of views on issues of interest helps to form an unbiased understanding of urgent problems.
In her turn, Andreas Peschke expressed hope that a productive cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Germany would further develop.
Issues related to the current situation in the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement were also discussed at the meeting. The president focused on a number of unilateral restrictive measures taken by Moldova. He mentioned, in particular, the blocking of Pridnestrovie's logistics, politically motivated charges brought by Moldova against Pridnestrovian officials and businessmen. Consideration was also given to the problem of economic pressure on Pridnestrovie.
