Last Friday the country's first social shop was inaugurated in Rybnitsa, in the building of the municipal baths. It should be mentioned that the idea of launching the shop backed by the president belongs to Rybnitsa residents and has been implemented by the management of Moldova Metallurgic Works (MMZ).
The shop's prices are 30−50% below market. Goods are procured directly from manufacturers and are sold at no upcharge, and all costs the shop incurs are paid by the MMZ management, said the head of MMZ HR department, Victoria Grishchuk, on Radio 1.
The shop offers a variety of products, including cereals, confectionery, bakery, canned goods, fresh vegetables. Soon meat, fish and dairy products will be available as well.
«All products come from local manufacturers," added Victoria Grishchuk, noting that the social shop is meant first of all for pensioners, disabled persons, large families, i.e. those categories of citizens that are entitled to benefits.
There will be two social shops in Rybnitsa. Later on they will be launched in every city of the country. There are plans to open about ten shops under the auspices of MMZ.
It is not the first social project implemented by the metallurgic plant. Today there are also two social buses in Rybnitsa that provide free passes for benefit recipients, as well as schoolchildren and teachers going to schools in the morning. Besides, MMZ installs children's playgrounds and provide assistance to athletes.
