Before the European championship in Italy, athlete from Tiraspol Alexander Semerenko achieved 10 junior world records in various powerlifting exercises according to three international federations. He planned to make one more record in the championship — in overhead squat.

The European championship according to the World Drug Free Powerlifting Federation was held in separate powerlifting exercises of the Italian city of Riva-del-Garda between September 18 and September 20.
Regular and hard trainings and orientation on a world record in deadlift yielded the result. Dnestr athlete lifted the weight in 170.5 kg. It is a new junior (18−19 years old) world record in weight category under 67.5 kg according to WDFPF. The previous European and world record belong to the representative of Scotland.
