The delegation which came to celebrate Pridnestrovie's 25th anniversary included the State Duma first deputy chairman on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and compatriots, Kazbek Taysaev, the State Duma deputy chairman on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and compatriots, Tatyana Moskalkova, and the member of State Duma regional policy, North and Far East affairs committee, Roman Khudyakov.
Pridnestrovie was represented by the deputy foreign minister, Vitaliy Ignatyev, and the Supreme Council deputy, chairman of Pridnestrovie's Communist Party, Oleg Khorzhan, the president's press office reports.
The president, Yevgeny Shevchuk, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the State Duma for the participation of the representative Russian delegation in the celebrations in Pridnestrovie. «I take it as a serious consideration for Pridnestrovie, the Russian citizens who reside here, and compatriots," said the president.
The honourable guests of the republic paid attention to aesthetic transformation of some Pridnestrovian towns. «We have seen a lot of new things. Construction sites. Many restored buildings. We have seen around Tiraspol and visited Bendery. These are very beautiful and neat cities," said Kazbek Taisayev.
The MPs also shared their impressions of the military parade. «We've made sure that Pridnestrovie's armed forces and law enforcement agencies are at a rather high level. They are ready to protect the rights and interests of the citizens, who made their choice," underscored Tatyana Moskalkova.
The State Duma deputies noted the political self-sufficiency of Pridnestrovie. «Today, the choice made by the people 25 years ago at the referendum in accordance with all legal forms, international rules providing for the right of nations to self-determination has fulfilled itself and formed into an independent state with its form of governing, supreme legislative and executive bodies, developing economy," said Tatyana Moskalkova. «If the referendum was held in compliance with legal forms and the majority of citizens have made their choice, the international community must respect it and let the state develop, find forms of cooperation.»
The dialogue participants discussed a number of unilateral restrictive measures taken by Moldova against the PMR. «The people of Pridnestrovie is experiencing another stage of economic blockade today when our citizens cannot cross Moldova's territory in cars with Pridnestrovie-issued licence plates.
From the point of view of international law, this is ungrounded, illegal and unjust," pointed out Tatyana Moskalkova.
During the meeting attention was given to issues of the Russo-Pridnestrovian cooperation. In particular, it was talked about a large-scale humanitarian and educational project, implemented in Pridnestrovie under a close assistance of the Russian president's special envoy on Pridnestrovie, Dmitriy O. Rogozin, and the State Duma committee on CIS, Eurasian integration and compatriot affairs, Leonid E. Slutskiy. It is recalled that Pridnestrovie's school textbooks depository was supplied with new Russian textbooks, designed to comply with Russia's up-to-date educational standards.
The MPs specially emphasised the importance of implementing this project.
«On 1 September we visited a number of schools, saw joy in children's eyes, and this is the biggest happiness that may be. Your labour and the work of your team aim at making human life decent," noted Kazbek Taysayev.
In the course of the meeting it was agreed that in the nearest time Russia and Pridnestrovie would make suggestions on possibilities to provide assistance in solving the most urgent Pridnestrovie's issues. «We will consider these issues at a State Duma committee session. We'll provide maximum assistance," underscored Kazbek Taysayev.
