Nina Shtanski:'We know well in Pridenstrovie that Russia won't abandon us'

That is what Pridnestrovie's minister of foreign affairs, Nina Shtanski, said in a special interview on Russia's Fifth Channel during the Open Studio show featuring the situation in Pridnestrovie

Replying to a journalist's questions, the minister confirmed that Pridnestrovie's citizens are concerned over Ukraine’s military build-up near Pridnestrovie's border, reports the MFA press office.

«There is no information about a direct military threat. But the war is being waged against Pridnestrovie. This is a hybrid war: economic and information blockade, and other forms of isolation. There is no doubt it all is increasing the level of tensions here," said Nina Shtanski.

In that context, the minister pointed out that a full-scale economic blockade has brought the republic to the brink of survival today. In the current situation, she stated, the Pridnestrovians set all their hopes on Russia only.

«Pridnestrovie is grateful to the Russian Federation for its great support and assistance, including financial aid. We highly appreciate it because, but for Russia's assistance, we would have already faced socio-economic collapse here," said the minister.

«We know well in Pridnestrovie that Russia won't abandon us. We hope very much our appeals for peace, our assurance that we are posing no threat — we do remember the war of 1992 — will not go unheeded in Kishinev and Kiev," concluded Nina Shtanski.
