«Since 2006, the EUBAM Mission has been at the Pridnestrovie-Ukraine border. They are the European experts, and they haven't revealed any facts of smuggling. So, I'd like to advise to study reports of the international experts more attentively," the President Yevgeny Shevchuk emphasized on the air of Russia 24 TV channel.
Yevgeny Shevchuk called Mikheil Saakashvili's appointment as the governor of Odessa Oblast a sovereign decision of Ukraine; however he emphasized that such news had been taken in Pridnestrovie with certain caution.
«Certainly, society draws a parallel with the South Ossetia events in 2008. We are wary of this information. We will watch the actions of this official. We are concerned with this issue. It is also aggravated by the fact that additional forces of the Ukrainian army and national guard are concentrated in immediate proximity to the Pridnestrovie's borders (our border with Odessa Oblast extends to about 400 km), some of these divisions were redeploуed from the so-called anti-terrorist operation zone," the Head of state notes.
As Yevgeny Shevchuk noted, any aggressive declarations are aimed, first of all, to distract attention of Odessa Oblast people.
«During the long period of time, the Ukrainian mass media stoke tensions among the citizens of Ukraine, brainwashing them with stories that the Pridnestrovian army together with the limited contingent of Russian troops are allegedly going to attack either Vinnytsia Oblast, or Odessa, or both. Certainly, the Odessa Oblast citizens take this disinformation as a bad signal, and it causes tension in Pridnestrovie," the President told.
