In the past three years the government has allocated from extrabudgetary sources 6 times as much funds for the construction and renovation of educational institutions as have been allocated from the budget in the past ten years. Tatyana Turanskaya produced these statistics when presenting a report on the government's work in 2014 to the parliament.
«This amount of financial investments has greatly enhanced the situation in the area and not only helped to meet the requirements to educational facilities, but also liquidate kindergarten queues. In the past year 11 additional groups have been organised in six kindergartens," underscored Tatyana Turanskaya.
The chairwoman of the government pointed out that in the previous year large scale work had been carried out in order to create an electronic register of the preschool children belonging to preferential categories and organise centralised exchange of interagency information on these children.
Following the results in the system of school education in 2014, 91 school leavers study at Russian universities, and 15 study in Ukraine on the quotas allocated by these states. School libraries have renewed their funds by receiving over 12.500 new educational books. However, over the years the lack of funding has become a challenge in the education system. It refers to the lack of opportunity to carry out capital repairing of buildings, ageing of equipment, lack of up-to-date literature. Tatyana Turanskaya noted that, according to the experts, in order to provide state guarantees, to create conditions for retaining the quality of Pridnestrovie's education on a long-term basis and fully fulfill its obligations, educational institutions require annual funding in the amount of over 2.5 billion roubles, whereas the budget funding covers only 40% of their needs.
