Pridnestrovie's President: We have never persued any aggressive policy

Yevgeny Shevchuk told it to the Russian journalists answering a question about the military conflict of 1992

«Unfortunately, this tragedy cannot be forgotten today," Yevgeny Shevchuk told and reminded that more than 800 people died and more than 1,5 thousand were badly wounded during the warfare in 1992.

«About 500 thousand citizens live in the republic today. We remember that more than 200 thousand citizens left Pridnestrovie during that war, blockade, different economic sanctions and deterioration of the economic situation in the republic. We have never persued any aggressive policy, but we have to stand against this disorder and additionaly imposed conditions aimed to constrain our economic potential and to lower living standards of our citizens. Beside the regional economic instability we, unfortunately, have the imposed conditions," the President reminded.

According to him, the Pridnestrovie's side within negotiations with Kishinev and Kiev partners tries to reach an agreement concerning mechanics of the republican economy. «Unfortunately, we cannot succeed in this. And we see that these additionaly imposed economic conditions, i.e. sanctions, blockade, etc., actually form a basis for imposition of political demands and for achievement of the aims which they didn't reach during the military conflict of 1992," the President summarized.
