Pridnestrovie's law perpetuates victory of Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45

The corresponding law has been signed by President Yevgeniy Shevchuk

The act «On perpetuating the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941−45» will not only immortalise the memory of the Great Victory, but shows our state's solidarity with the other CIS states, first of all, with Russia, on the attitude towards the feat of the Soviet soldiers and Soviet people during the war.

The law stipulates the procedure of celebrating Victory Day, 9 May, in Pridnestrovie, regulates issues relating to Great Patriotic War state awards and other insignia, as well as Great Patriotic War monuments.

The law also provides for measures combating fascism. «Resolute combat against fascism is at the forefront of Pridnestrovie's policy on the perpetuation of the Soviet people's Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic undertakes a commitment to take every necessary measure to prevent the establishment and activity of fascist organisations and movements in its territory," says the law.

In particular, it is prohibited to use any kind of Nazi symbols, as well as to advocate and demonstrate in public attributes and symbols of groups, organisations, movements and persons collaborating with the Nazi.

It stipulates the necessity of providing everyday assistance to the participants, veterans and victims of the Great Patriotic War. The provision of benefits and social security is supervised in compliance with Pridnestrovie's laws and other legal acts on veterans.

The law also regulates international cooperation in the fields of assistance to WW II veterans and preservation of WW II monuments.

The present law shall come into effect as of the date after the day of its official publishing.
