PSU joins Eurasian Association of Universities

The delegation of the Pridnestrovian State University (PSU) visited St. Petersburg and took part in the XIII Congress of the Eurasian Association of Universities, where it held a number of meetings with representatives of Russia's leading universities

According to the PSU press service, the delegation included Rector Galina Sandutsa, PSU Honorary President Stepan Beril and Director of the International Cooperation Centre Vladlen Lysenko. In the course of a 3-day visit to St. Petersburg the Pridnestrovians took part in the XIII Congress of the Eurasian Association of Universities. The joining of the PSU to the association as a full-fledged member has become the main outcome of the forum.

Before that, the PSU was an associated member in this organisation.

«It enables us to enter into contractual relationship with all members of the association, which includes 83 universities in Russia and the CIS," the PSU press centre quotes the university rector, Galina Sandutsa, as saying.

During the visit there was a meeting with the St. Petersburg State University deputy rector on international cooperation, Alexander Gogolevskiy. Following the meeting, the main aspects of cooperation were highlighted, including practical training for lecturers and students who major in political science, law, medicine, engineering, as well as post-graduate study. The PSU will have right to participate in international programs carried out by the St. Petersburg State University. There are plans to organise videoconferences.

The PSU has concluded a cooperation agreement with the St. Petersburg State Economic University, which provides for educational and scientific collaboration, and exchange of students.

Prospects for cooperation with the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health were also discussed during the visit. It was agreed that the PSU would participate in the VI Economic Forum «Dialogue of Civilisations: World Without War», which is currently underway in Yekaterinburg at the Ural State Economic University. The Pridnestrovian University is represented at this forum by Valentina Eni, pro-rector on youth affairs.

An individual meeting was held in the St. Petersburg government with Andrei Maximov, chairman of the science and higher education committee. Areas of possible cooperation and implementation of exchange programs between universities were discussed at the meeeting. Besides, an agreement was reached that representatives of Abkhazia and South Ossetia universities would take part in the commemorative activities at the PSU 85-th anniversary.
