The top list based on the sportsmen’s results of this year was approved at the Sport Coordination Council’s conference. They are the athletes awarded at the Olympic Games (including the Youth ones); the Championships; World and European Cups; the world, Pridnestrovie’s and Moldova’s championships. 30 applications were submitted over the republic altogether, 18 candidates were selected from them. "We’ve seen the reports with some discrepancies, i.e. several athletes of the same weight were claimed, so we had to reject such canditates," the head of the State Sport Department Alla Mamkova told.
This top list included: the World-class athletes Tatyana Perstnyova (swimming), Olga Bliznets (table tennis), Alexander Ryshkan, Yulia Korol and the Candidate Master of Sports Alexander Usatenko (boxing), the World-class athletes Alexander Dyachenko, Alexey Korovashkov, Kirill Shamshurin and the Master of Sports Vladislav Oleynikov (rowing), the World-class athlete Vladimir Letnikov and the Master of Sports Nikolay Cheban (track-and-field athletics), the World-class athletes Victor Skvortsov (judo), Ivan Zamfirov and Dmitry Chakusta (free-style wrestling), Anna Repida (sambo), the Master of Sports Alina Vukolova (hand-to-hand fighting), the Candidate Master of Sports in checkers Anna Shlyakhovskaya and the Master of Sports Oleg Grocu (competitions in checkers among the physically challenged).
