The inter-agency cooperation agreements signed in Moscow today will positively contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Pridnestrovie, said Pridnestrovian President Yevgeny Shevchuk
"The protocol signed between Pridnestrovie and Russia has been supplemented with additional agreements today. We see a considerable positive contribution to the development of trade and economic cooperation. The volume of trade with Russia has increased over this period of time. The exports have grown by approximately 20%. Although the percentage is insignificant, this is a positive result over such a short period of time, and we feel it today," said the head of state/
Yevgeny Shevchuk expressed gratitude for the Russian leadership's position "aimed, first of all, at fulfilling its international obligations."
He recalled that Pridnestrovie's rights were defined within the framework of the negotiation format. The 1997 Memorandum, in particular, stipulated the right of Pridnestrovie "to independently establish and support international contacts in economic, scientific and technical, and cultural spheres ..." This framework agreement had been violated by Moldova and Ukraine since 2006, as a result of which Pridnestrovie's economy suffered substantial damages.
Pridnestrovie's president focused attention on the fact that Kishinev and Kiev authorities were pondering on strengthening pressure on Pridnestrovie's economy and freedom of movement.
"We hope that today's signing will lead to positive results. Signing previous agreements has resulted in the simplification of administrative procedures when supplying Pridnestrovian goods to the Russian Federation; there is efficient mutual understanding among authorised bodies of our countries. This contributes to the development of trade and economic cooperation. This is our aim because Pridnestrovie's foreign economic activity has been in a state of blockade and semi-blockade since 2006," underscored Yevgeny Shevchuk.
