Bendery's team has won the final
The Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency has already reported the Spartak Legends tournament took place under the auspices of the Russian Institute of Strategic Research. More than 200 players took part in the tournament. The competition had a three-stage structure. At the first stage municipal and regional winners were decided. The second stage took place in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa where five teams were qualified into the final stage.
Today Bendery's team have won the title in the final match against Dnestrovsk's team, which ended 5-3, and have been awarded a cherished Spartak Cup.
The victorious team have been awarded the cup by the renowned Russian football stars - ex-manager of Russia's national team and Spartak Moscow, Oleg Romantsev, and the president of the All-Russian Professional Union of Football Players and a famous ex-Spartak defender, Vagiz Khidiyatulin.
"This match has witnessed everything: yellow cards, faults and spectacular goals. I've taken pleasure. When I watched the match, I was very surprised to know that amateurs were playing. It seems to me these guys have the makings, and if they take up football in earnest, they'll have a chance to get into top leagues. My friend, Georgy Yartsev, is an example. He started his career at 29, managed to win the Soviet champion's title and played for the national team. All you need to do is to love football and train yourself every day," said Oleg Romantsev.
According to him, such football tournaments are important and popular. Their organisers want to hold them every year and attribute an international status to them.
"If I am invited, I will come to Pridnestrovie again. I was already here when played for Dynamo and Spartak. I angled on the Dniester banks and have very many friends in Tiraspol. I always come here with pleasure; the population is very friendly and hospitable here," the Russian football player concluded.
