That was discussed at the first Board meeting of the Agency
The State Agency for Culture emerged in January this year as a result of the Education Ministry reorganization, carried out under the Presidential Decree. Among the goals of the Agency there is implementation of state policy in the sphere of arts and culture, cultural preservation, development of cultural diversity, ensuring equal access to cultural values.
"Today the sphere of culture faces a great deal of problems accumulated for many years. The main thing is that these problems must galvanize local authorities into action. Efficient functioning of the branch demands the restoration of partnership and coordination, exchange of experience," Maria Kyrmyz, Head of the Agency, underscored.
She announced that the system of cultural and arts organizations comprizes 329 institutions. Among them there is the Pridnestrovian State Theatre of Drama and Comedy, the State Cultural Center "Palace of Republic", centralized library system, club network, further education institutions, museums. Maria Kyrmyz dwelt upon the results of their work.
One of the leading cultural institutions in our country is the N.S. Aronetskaya Pridnestrovian State Theatre of Drama and Comedy.
"In 2014 the theater was nominated and awarded in a number of prestigious international festivals in Moldova and Ukraine. The number of performances has increased by 30%; 179 performances have been attended by more than 20,000 spectators. The Republican cinema and video center have organized 2,979 film shows with total attendance of more than 103,000 spectators," said the Head of the Agency.
Special attention was paid to the library system. Today there are 136 libraries in the republic. They have served about 79,000 readers altogether. To survive and be in demand the system of libraries must be reorganized and modernized, Maria Kyrmyz is convinced.
"At present the project has been worked out aimed at reorganizing 23 countryside libraries. In general, it refers to villages with population of less than 500 residents. Here, library services will be provided by dedicated institutions, located in bigger settlements. Besides, the project to create the Pridnestrovian National Library has been developed. Eventually, it is expected to bring the work of the library system to a new high-quality level," Maria Kyrmyz pointed out.
The idea was supported by Chairman of the Government Tatyana Turanskaya. This day she gave her own opinion on the Agency's work, emphasizing the necessity to establish interagency cooperation.
"Now, as many moral values are being questioned, the importance of culture is an urgent matter. The work of the dedicated Agency has been organized at a high level," noted Tatyana Turanskaya.
According to her, over the next half year in addition to modernizing the library system and creating the national library, cultural specialists across the republic should pay special attention to preservation of archeological monuments and formation of the unified register of cultural heritage objects.
The Chairman of the Government stressed the importance of preparing for the forthcoming celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, as well as for the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War as part of the next anniversary of the Iasi-Kishinev operation.
" In the present circumstances and considering the situation in the neighbouring states, the Government's strategic task is to elaborate steps aimed at economic and social stabilization, minimization of crisis phenomena. That's why it is necessary that the work of all authorities should be enhanced," concluded Tatyana Turanskaya.
