Tiraspol, December, 3. / News Pridnestrovya/. Since December 3, 2018, the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank issued a 10 rubles commemorative silver coin with the General of the Infantry Dragomirov M.I. in the "Outstanding Russian commanders and military leaders in the history of Pridnestrovie" series.
Commemorative coins are currency units of the PRB. They are used as a means of payment throughout the Republic and are counted at their par value.
Each coin is packed into the transparent capsule, has the identification certificate (passport) and a case.
Mikhail Dragomirov (1830-1905) is the Russian military leader and the military theorist, the hero of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878.
As a Major General Dragomirov headed the 14th Infantry Division included headquartered in Bendery and Tiraspol the 55th Podolsk and the 56th Zhytomyr regiments.
During the Russo-Turkish war, the 14th Division under Dragomirov's command earned the outstanding reputation. The Pridnestrovian regiments played a significant role in one of the key battles of the War – defence of Shipka Pass.
