Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister: Statements of the Moldovan side concerning the reasons for restriction of food import to Pridnestrovie through Ukraine are far-fatched

According to Vitaly Ignatyev, attempts to explain new measures with phytosanitary and veterinary security are groundless

Tiraspol, May 25. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. As Novosti Pridnestrovya has already reported, new import rules of some food products for the PMR through the territory of Ukraine were one of the issues of the agenda at the meeting of the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev and the special representative of the OSCE acting chairman Wolf Dietrich Heim. As an explanation of this measure the political representative of Moldova George Balan told that it was allegedly introduced because of concerns for spread of animal diseases to the country.

At the end of the meeting with Mr. Heim, Vitaly Ignatyev commented on these Chisinau's explanations. «Our phytosanitary and veterinary experts actively interacted with the Moldavan colleagues. It is notavle that there were meetings,, after the African plague of pigs outbreak in Ukraine. And this work was effective," the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Minister told. Thus, according to Vitaly Ignatyev, such speculation of the Moldova's representatives about the reasons of the Ukraine's import ban for some types of goods were far-fatched and don't reflect the reality.
