Pridnestrovie wants to introduce automatic fare collection system in public transport

Tiraspol, 29 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Tiraspol City Council's commission on entrepreneurship discussed economic development programmes of MUP Tiraslift and MUP Tiraspol Trolleybus Department. In particular, it was proposed to introduce automatic fare collection system in trolleybuses and routed taxis. As the city council's press service reports, special e-maps will control passenger traffic density and monitor benefit-entitled citizens.

An Agroprombank representative noted that partners had already been found who are ready to supply technical equipment and software to implement this project. Members of the relevant commission consider this idea as a whole to be promising, especially for the local budget from which the city compensates the trolleybus department for the conveyance of benefit-entitled passengers.

The department director, Vasily Nigay, said the department currently has 59 trolleybuses, 14 of which are brand-new. Among the department's achievements is a serious reduction in down time as compared to previous years.

Speaking about problems, Vasily Nigay mentioned the company’s debts, and in particular its current debts for electricity and central heating, which are 700,000 and 230,000, respectively. There are also certain difficulties caused by the lack of trolleybus drivers. With regular staffing of 72 people, the enterprise has only 64 drivers. Drivers are also trained by the enterprise.

The director of Tiraslift, Valery Proskurin, said that his enterprise has 476 lifts on the balance sheet, 317 of which has already worked out its normative service life. 636,000 roubles collected from the population will be allocated to lift maintenance.

Tiraslift is working now to introduce a system of lift dispatching in Tiraspol. It has already been completed in the October residential area, with the Zapadniy district waiting for its turn. This dispatching system does not only control lifts but also basements, doors and machine rooms.

At the end of the meeting, councillors thanked Valery Proskurin and Vasily Nigay for providing detailed information about the work of the two enterprises. Both programmes will be presented at a session of the Tiraspol City Council scheduled for 6 April.
