Tiraspol, 16 March. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The acting foreign minister of the PMR, Vitaly Ignatyev, met a member of Russia's Federation Council committee on international affairs, Olga Timofeyeva, representing Sevastopol in the upper chamber.
The Pridnestrovian minister briefed the senator about the current situation in the PMR, focusing on the character and the negative influence of external factors on the country's socio-economic situation.
According to Pridnestrovie's MFA press service, the parties discussed the prospects and potential for generating Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation in the social and humanitarian spheres.
The interlocutors agreed on the need for using every mechanism available to protect the rights and interests of the compatriots residing in Pridnestrovie. In this context, Vitaly Ignatyev presented to Olga Timofeyeva a book by the MFA of the PMR «Instruments of pressure on Pridnestrovie in the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement: politically motivated criminal prosecution of Pridnestrovian citizens in Moldova».
They also discussed a number of other important areas in bilateral cooperation, including in the trade and economy spheres. In particular, Olga Timofeyeva made clear the upper chamber's readiness to assist in organising at a high level the 4th Pridnestrovian Investment Forum, scheduled for this May.
