Tiraspol, July 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The interdivisional operation to maintain peace and stability, which began on July 29, 1992, with the participation of the Russian, Moldovan and Pridnestrovian peacekeeping contingents, still has no analogues and remains relevant today. Thus, a solid foundation is created for the peace settlement process. This was emphasized by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin in his congratulatory message addressed to the military contingents of Joint Peacekeeping Forces in Pridnestrovie.
“The invaluable experience of your service is especially demanded in the difficult situation outside the region and in the world,” Mikhail Galuzin noted. “It’s obvious today that the operation should be continued in the format prescribed by the regulatory and legal documents signed in the year of 1992.”
Mikhail Galuzin thanked everyone who, for 33 years, has been performing tasks of maintaining peace and multinational harmony on Dniester banks. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation wished the peacekeepers success in their service, health, happiness and prosperity.
The peacekeeping operation has been conducting on the basis of the Agreement on the principles of peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in Pridnestrovie, which was signed on July 21, 1992 in Moscow. In accordance with the agreement, a Security Zone was created, in key points of which 402 Russian, 492 Pridnestrovian and 355 Moldovan servicemen are serving at fifteen stationary posts. The overall management of the peacekeeping operation is carried out by the Joint Control Commission, which includes delegations from Russia, Pridnestrovie and Moldova, as well as Ukrainian and the OSCE Mission’s representatives.
