Vitaly Ignatiev: Pridnestrovie’s response to Moldova’s economic aggression will follow

The head of the PMR Foreign Ministry emphasized that Pridnestrovie will protect its interests

Tiraspol, January 10. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. In response to economic aggression from Moldova, Pridnestrovie will take appropriate measures, the head of the PMR Foreign Ministry Vitaly Ignatiev said.

“Certain decisions in this direction were made and agreed upon and discussed. But we will not announce any actions. We don't see any need for this. We will protect our interests. I think that the Moldovan side will see and feel this,” Pridnestrovian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev said on the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel.

Let us recall that from January 1, Moldova, in violation of the agreements reached, without warning and without any explanation, began to collect customs duties on Pridnestrovian imports. As President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky noted, it is still difficult to assess the scale of damage caused by the introduction of duties, but it is obvious that we are talking about millions of dollars a year.

In response, on January 9, the Government of Pridnestrovie canceled the preferential treatment for Moldovan farmers renting land in Pridnestrovie. From now on, they will pay customs duties to the PMR budget. In addition, Moldovan organizations and their employees working on the territory of Pridnestrovie will pay for energy resources at Moldovan tariffs, which are significantly higher than Pridnestrovian ones.
