Сhief doctors of infectious diseases hospitals made reports on the current state of affairs in the course of the meeting of the Operational Headquarters under the President for prevention of the spread of coronavirus. To date, there are five hospitals deployed in the republic, the total hospital bed capacity of which is 971. 834 hospital beds are occupied. Taking into account the growing morbidity (the average daily rate is 173 cases now), the veterans hospital is being prepared to receive infected patients - 60 specialized beds will be deployed by the end of the day. The influx of patients is still being managed with the available capacities in the north of the republic. It is possible if necessary to organize an additional three dozen beds in the Dubossary hospital. The hospital in Kamenka is in full readiness to receive COVID patients, but at the moment it is positioned as a reserve one, Kristina Albul, Minister of Health of the PMR, informed the Operational Headquarters participants.
The Minister of Internal Affairs and the Operational Headquarters under the President Vitaly Neagu reported on commission inspections at coronavirus hospitals on behalf of the President. He brought to the attention of colleagues the main complaints from patients of COVID hospitals. Most of the respondents spoke about the shortage of bottled drinking water in hospitals. The President instructed to correct the situation, stressing that water should be in abundance and free access for both citizens undergoing inpatient treatment and for the personnel of medical institutions. Some hospitals expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of food preparation. This is explained by the shortage of personnel in the catering unit in the Bendery hospital. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled his urgent recommendation to transfer medical institutions to the services of specialized organizations. The President was informed that work in this direction is being carried out. The staff of the Bendery hospital also advocates an outsourcing mechanism in terms of providing patients with food. Among the shortcomings pointed out in the RCH is the lack of nursing staff. As the Head physician of the clinical hospital Igor Tostanovsky explained, there was a shortage of procedural nurses. It was decided to suspend the planned hospitalization in the RCH and redirect the released specialists to hospital service to solve the personnel problem at this stage, said Christina Albul. Mercury thermometers were unexpectedly scarce. These devices quickly fail due to fragility and the acquisition of new ones has turned out to be problematic today. The order is processed. In parallel, electronic thermometers will be purchased.
Most patients are satisfied with the work of the medical staff. There are isolated cases of dissatisfaction. They are considered on a case-by-case basis. The President instructed to continue the inspection practice, drawing attention to the fact that the communication of inspectors with employees of medical institutions and citizens undergoing treatment should take place separately. Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed to place contact information in each hospital - the telephone numbers of the hot lines of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Crisis centers continue to work. One of their main tasks is to maintain direct communication with COVID-19 carriers who are on outpatient treatment. It is necessary to call such citizens at least twice a day, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled. He also emphasized the importance of timely transfer of patients whose condition has worsened from home to hospital treatment. The President spoke about how important it is to contact specialists in a timely manner. He urged citizens not to ignore the symptoms of coronavirus and not to self-medicate, which is dangerous both for the carrier of the infection and for his environment.
