The Prime Minister presented data on foreign trade at the Operational Headquarters` meeting

Tiraspol, January 13. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Government held another meeting of the Operational Headquarters under the leadership of Prime Minister Alexander Rosenberg. The current situation in the humanitarian and economic spheres, as well as measures necessary to minimize the consequences of the energy crisis, were discussed via videoconference, the Government press service reports.

Opening the meeting, Alexander Rosenberg presented current macroeconomic indicators, emphasizing that the republic is in "very difficult, almost critical circumstances." He drew attention to the fact that the cessation of natural gas supplies led to most enterprises` shutdown, with the exception of those that produce food products. In the current conditions, priorities in the distribution of energy resources were set taking into account the vital needs of citizens and the state.

"First of all, the population, the healthcare system and the social security system are provided," Alexander Rosenberg clarified.

Analyzing economic activity in the first days of January, the Prime Minister noted a significant reduction in transactions within the framework of foreign economic activity. Today, imports have decreased by 43%, which in value terms amounts to 7 million dollars. A significant decrease occurred across all product groups.

Export operations are also showing a decline. Volumes have decreased by 60%, which amounts to 3.3 million dollars.

"The largest decrease in export operations, both in relative and absolute terms, occurred for metals and metal products, engineering products, and chemical industry products. Cement exports have been completely suspended," Alexander Rosenberg added.

In the context of energy resources shortage, a night work schedule was introduced for a number of enterprises. Among them are ZAO Elektromash, Intercenter Lux, Softshoes and others.

"In the near future, other enterprises are planning to switch to night work in the same mode if there is free electricity," the head of the Government noted.

The Prime Minister also appealed to businesses to show social responsibility and care for workforces that are currently idle, and to make the most of the available opportunities to provide them with work.

Alexander Rosenberg expressed gratitude to everyone who continues to work non-stop, ensuring the life of the republic.

"I would like to thank all energy workers who work almost round-the-clock. I would like to thank healthcare and social workers who are also working in difficult, almost emergency conditions,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
