The Diocesan Assembly was held in the Nativity of Christ Cathedral in the capital. The purpose of the event was to sum up the results of the year. The participants were clergy from all over the republic, headed by Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky was among the invited guests.
The clergy were able to ask the PMR President questions of interest. Among the topics raised was the issue of gas supply, which worries everyone. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that every year is difficult for Pridnestrovie. The challenge that Pridnestrovians have faced this year was a possible energy crisis. The President recalled that no one will be able to say whether gas will be supplied to the republic until late in the evening of December 31. Vadim Krasnoselsky explained this decision will be made by certain persons in a short period of time, based on the current situation. The clergy asked how the churches would be heated in a negative scenario. Vadim Krasnoselsky recommended thinking about heating options in advance in case gas is not supplied to churches. The President reminded that firewood can now be harvested: the republic allows collecting dead wood for personal needs in unlimited quantities. If it is necessary to use equipment to collect dead wood, it is necessary to obtain permission from the state administration. The President urged those gathered not to panic and to calm all parishioners with their words.
They talked during the meeting about the importance of Sunday schools. As an example, they discussed the school recently opened in Bendery at the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the state provides assistance to parishes that organize the work of such educational and upbringing institutions.
They asked the President whether it is possible to organize a chaplaincy service in the penitentiary institutions of the republic. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that such a system operates in other departments and recommended adopting this experience. The PMR President proposed during the meeting to organize field kitchens at churches for the Christmas holidays. Other topics were also discussed. At the end of the meeting they exchanged congratulations on the upcoming secular and Orthodox holidays.
