American diplomats – Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the United States in the Republic of Moldova Daniela DiPierro and Acting Deputy Chief of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova Cynthia Cook arrived in Tiraspol. The delegation was received by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The meeting was attended by the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized welcoming the guests that their visit as participants in the "Permanent Conference..." format is important for the Pridnestrovian side. He recalled Pridnestrovie's adherence to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that we see a solution to problems only at the table of the negotiating, and war is unacceptable for us. The President told the guests, who were visiting the republic for the first time on a working visit, about the multinationality of the Pridnestrovian people, noting that the diversity of representatives of nations and ethnic groups is characteristic of both the administrative apparatus and the Pridnestrovian society as a whole. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the absence of divisions in the country along national lines and any conflicts on this basis. The President mentioned the assistance provided in the republic to refugees from Ukraine. Daniela DiPierro expressed gratitude in this regard to the Pridnestrovians on behalf of the entire world community. Discussing the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiation process, the meeting participants noted its protracted downtime. It was noted that the coronavirus pandemic and military actions in Ukraine served as serious stagnation factors. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed confidence at the same time in the possibility of intensifying negotiations and resuming the work of the "5 + 2" format with the mutual desire of the parties and the joint efforts of all participants, mediators and observers. Substitution of the negotiating platform is unacceptable and inadmissible, but it is necessary to meet and communicate productively even in the conditions of the suspended work of the comprehensive format, the PMR President considers. He told the US diplomats that Pridnestrovie continues to offer various dialogue options. "There is no dialogue without meetings. There is no compromise without dialogue. There are no solutions without compromise," Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized, noting that the residents of both republics are waiting for solutions, the adoption of which will allow citizens to feel safe.
Daniela DiPierro asked about conversations of Tiraspol and Chisinau, inquired about the state of affairs in ensuring freedom of movement of citizens and vehicles, asked the opinion of the Pridnestrovian side regarding the possible accession of Moldova to the European Union and other pressing issues.
