Vadim Krasnoselsky answered questions from journalists

Svetlana Martynyuk, TSV:

Vadim Nikolayevich, June 19 is a sad day for all Pridnestrovians. We talked with many people who came from all over the republic today. When asked why they came, they answered that they could not do otherwise, they could not spend this day somewhere else. What feelings does the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic feel today?

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky:

I am a resident of Bendery, I am a Pridnestrovian, I am the President. I feel the feelings that the people are experiencing – this is pain, this is sorrow, this is dissatisfaction from the fact that they are trying to forget this date somewhere. It is remembered in Pridnestrovie. They are generally rewriting history in Moldova, saying that Russia attacked Moldova. There was a real war here in fact; armed forces of the active police and armed forces were against civilians.

Everyone knows the history. Columns burst in (the peace agreements had been signed before) and began shooting at the city. 100 thousand civilians left the city. This is how it really was. There was no evacuation announced in advance – no one knew about the war. The war was treacherous. It was actually an invasion. People left under sniper fire. Women died, children died, old people died. How can we forget this? We must remember. We must lay flowers, know the fallen by name, and give them honor. When you forget, there is a risk of repetition. I urge the current authorities of Moldova to remember and evaluate the actions that took place in 1992 on the part of that government of Moldova, in order to prevent similar wars in the present time.

Svetlana Martynyuk, TSV:

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Popshoi said recently that Pridnestrovie was created artificially, “by the hand of the Kremlin”. Such phrases were heard. How do you feel about such statements by Moldovan politicians, how appropriate are they, especially on the eve of June 19?

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky:

It is clear that all politicians who make such statements either know nothing or are simply being hypocritical and deceiving. Not a “hand of the Kremlin” created Pridnestrovie, Pridnestrovie was created by the Pridnestrovian people who were already here. The need to create a state was simply to protect oneself. I remind you that Moldova took us out of its legal framework after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, even before the 1992 war. The laws of Moldova did not apply to Pridnestrovie. The Moldovan police did not accept reports of murder when people were killed. No one defended Pridnestrovian citizens. Appropriate structures were needed, which were created to protect the rights and freedoms of the people living here. The state was created. It's simple. The people living here needed protection, but they did not like it, and there was an invasion in 1992.

I have already spoken about this several times; the Supreme Council of Moldova adopted documents that put into effect Moldova’s renunciation of Pridnestrovie de jure and de facto. This is the Declaration of Sovereignty, the Declaration of Independence, which clearly states that the Moldavian SSR was created illegally. It means that we are divided into two entities since it is illegal.

They realized their mistake then and tried to correct it with an armed invasion. Therefore, there was no “hand of the Kremlin”. There was an absolutely stupid policy of the leadership of Moldova, treacherous and nationalistic, which led to the division of the Moldavian SSR.

I will remind you of another fact – this is the Language Law of 1985, when the Russian language and other languages of communication were banned. All document flow of government and administrative bodies was translated into Romanian, which became Romanian according to the Declaration of Independence. It was absolutely wild. There was the Soviet Union in 1989, and people were forbidden to speak their native language suddenly. This is pure stupidity. Do you understand? This all led to tragedy. What is the “hand of the Kremlin” here? There would be no way to repent for what you did, to apologize to the Pridnestrovian people... But no, it’s better to say “the hand of the Kremlin,” it’s easier, it’s more profitable, but this is not true. It's a lie.

Ekaterina Paskar, the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel:

Vadim Nikolayevich, a lot of people come to the monument of memory and sorrow every year. What would you like to wish? It is very important to maintain peace in Pridnestrovie.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky:

Well, that's what you wished. To keep peace in Pridnestrovie. There is never a good war. War is always bad. No matter how difficult it is, we must negotiate and maintain the negotiation process. I as the President and the entire Pridnestrovian people are for the negotiation process. We are in favor of resuming the “5+2” format, we are in favor of conducting negotiations at various platforms, and we are in favor of not stopping the negotiation process. War is easy to start, but it is either impossible or very difficult to stop. The geopolitical practice of today is proof of this unfortunately. We must continue the negotiation process.

I as the  President, the leadership of the republic, the Pridnestrovian people will do everything possible to ensure there is peace here. I hope, I really hope, that the leadership of Moldova is also for peace and against escalation and war in Pridnestrovie.
