The program of commemorative events dedicated to the Day of the Bendery Tragedy is scheduled for more than one day and covers the entire republic. Special preparations were made for this date in Bendery. The collection “Echo of War” and the photo chronicle “Thunderstorm over the Dniester. 1989 - 1992", showing a new military-themed performance "Hug me, and everything will pass", prepared by the artists of the Theater named after Natalia Aronetskaya as well as various tournaments and other sporting events, presentation of printed publications was timed on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the treacherously war in a peaceful city. Meetings were held with the defenders of Pridnestrovie and their families. A republican conference "June 19 - Day of the Bendery tragedy" was organized.
Today began with memorial services in the churches of the republic, secular events of a commemorative nature in Bendery on Liberation Square, in front of the building of the Bendery state administration.
The institution was called the city executive committee in 1992. This name is forever inscribed in the chronicles of the tragic events of Pridnestrovian history: the building, subjected to shelling by artillery and armored vehicles of the armed formations of Moldova, which was heroically defended by about a hundred Cossacks, militiamen, will forever remain a symbol of the defense of Bendery.
This is where the March of Remembrance started. This civil action has become traditional. Residents and guests of Bendery marched in a single column from the main city square to the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow. The leadership of the country and the city, the defenders of Pridnestrovie and members of the families of their dead comrades, military personnel, clergy, representatives of ministries, departments, institutions, labor collectives of Bendery enterprises, social activists, Yunarmiya, pupils of Suvorov military college, cadets and cadets were in the same ranks. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky took part in the memorable march through the center of the city, which heroically withstood the fight against the Moldavian aggressors.
The Bendery Immortal Regiment passed along the revived road of memory: in the hands of relatives, as well as young residents of the city, portraits of defenders. Those who were participants in the events of the early 90s recalled today the first anniversary of the Bendery tragedy. The mass event that today is habitually called the Immortal Regiment was held then for the first time. The defenders who gave their lives for Pridnestrovie looked at the waters of the peaceful Dniester from the windows of a trolleybus that followed the Tiraspol-Bendery route. Now few people remember that initially it was assigned the number 10, but then it was decided to assign the symbolic number 19 to this route.
Today's Immortal Regiment marched on foot. Following the huge canvases of the Pridnestrovian and Bendery flags (24 by 12 meters), the participants of the action arrived at the memorial complex, where the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers took place.
It was preceded by a moment of silence in memory of the fallen defenders of Pridnestrovie and the victims of Moldovan nationalism.
On behalf of the Pridnestrovian people, a scattering of flowers to the Eternal Flame and the BMP (infantry fighting vehicle) pedestal, a basket to the monument to Lieutenant General Alexander Lebed and a wreath to the wall of the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow were laid by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. Thousands of Pridnestrovians took part in the funeral and commemorative ceremony.
