The PMR President met with the Ambassador of the United States of America

The meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Moldova Kent Logsdon took place at the presidential executive office. The diplomat has headed the embassy since the end of last year. Today's visit to Pridnestrovie is the first, but it is not only introductory, but also a working one. Vadim Krasnoselsky, welcoming the guest, expressed hope for fruitful cooperation, noting that working contacts with representatives of the American Embassy have always been systemic and productive, based on the desire to solve issues of mutual interest in practice. The PMR President drew attention to the involvement of the American side in the work of the "5 + 2" format with its own position on topical issues on the negotiation agenda.

Kent Logsdon noted that the United States is interested in continuing the peaceful dialogue of the parties, participating in the work of the “Permanent Conference…” format as an observer.

The PMR President informed the interlocutor about the historical and political prerequisites for the conflict as well as about the ongoing stagnation of the dialogue due to the long-term practice of the Moldovan side refusing to fulfill its obligations that slows down the overall negotiation dynamics and negatively affects the observance of the rights and interests of Pridnestrovian citizens. The situation at present has been aggravated by politicized economic pressure from Chisinau, which has moved from banking and financial restrictions to direct blocking of the work of specific enterprises in particular the metallurgical plant in Rybnitsa that is one of the leading suppliers of its products to the world market.

Vadim Krasnoselsky focused the foreign diplomat attention on the futility of the inherently imitative Moldovan approach to dialogue, which not only did not bring the parties closer to a final and fair settlement of the conflict, but also critically distanced their positions during 32 years.

The meeting participants discussed bilateral humanitarian projects. They mentioned the Center for the English Language and American Culture that has been successfully functioning at the site of the Pridnestrovian State University for nine years now. They talked about the practice of attracting specialists delegated to Pridnestrovie from the USA to teach English as well as about the students exchange mechanism.

The interlocutors, having discussed up-to-date information and exchanged views on a wide range of issues, agreed to maintain working contacts.
