Tiraspol, December 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Lilia Fiskovich from Tiraspol won a bronze medal at the elite international marathon Taipeimarathon.
In Taiwan, a Pridnestrovian runner covered the classic 42 km distance in 2 hours 32 minutes 48 seconds. According to the athlete, she was only 48 seconds short of the standard for the European Championship.
“There is still time for the European forum selection - qualifying starts will take place in the spring. Now it is important to disengage from this marathon, to recover since you can only run such long distances at the maximum twice a year,” Lilia Fiskovich told the Novosti Pridnestrovya correspondent.
The runner also commented on her result in Taiwan. At the finish, the athlete from Tiraspol lost higher positions to her two African American opponents.
“I could have run better, but to be honest, the conditions were tough. Upon arrival, I spent two weeks locked up in quarantine and only trained on a race track,” Lilia Fiskovich said.
Lilia Fiskovich from Tiraspol does not give up her dream of getting on the Olympic podium. The Pridnestrovian athlete has already competed at two Olympics: in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and in Tokyo in 2021.
