The ceremony to honor the best employees of the healthcare sector was held on the renewed territory of the Tiraspol hospital. The PMR President arrived at the event to present state awards.
Not only the current results were summed up today, they spoke in general about the functioning for three decades of one of the most important systems from the social point of view – the medical one. The Head of the department Christina Albul made a presentation. She spoke about current priorities and plans. She focused on the implementation of the Capital Investment Fund program, noting that more than three dozen objects were repaired and built only in 2020. Serious work has been done in terms of re-equipment of medical facilities. The fleet of medical institutions has been significantly replenished (19 ambulances were purchased, 22 were received as humanitarian aid) in addition to updating medical equipment. New departments are opening in hospitals. 16 of them were opened in the Republican Clinical Hospital. Over 18 thousand patients are admitted to the main republican clinic annually, and approximately 6000 operations were made. There are plans to further expand the network of departments of the Republican Clinical Hospital and other medical institutions. The Minister of Health said that more than 280 new medical services have been introduced into the Pridnestrovian health care system in five years. Considering that the system is still experiencing an acute shortage of personnel, the state launched a program under which children with disabilities are provided free medical and consulting assistance not only in state, but also in commercial medical institutions as a support measure. The costs are covered by the state. As part of the state order, MRI studies are being carried out. Pridnestrovian patients are sent for treatment at the state expense and outside the republic.
The speaker talked about personnel policy and innovations that are designed to fill the system with the necessary specialists. She did not disregard the topic of the pandemic, which became a serious test for the health care system, noting that 649 doctors, 1386 representatives of the middle and 1152 junior medical staff were involved in the fight against the spread of coronavirus. More than a thousand doctors have been ill with COVID-19. There were also cases of death. The memory of the dead was honored with a minute of silence.
Pridnestrovie is a welfare state. Healthcare is one of the priority areas. Increased attention is paid to it. A serious step has been taken in the development of this sector in recent years. Preserving the life and health of citizens of the republic is a task from among those that are attributed to ensuring state security. Its implementation is entrusted to a large team representing the healthcare sector – approximately 10000 people, it was noted during today's solemn event. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic spoke about the importance of the work of the Ministry of Health and all its departments. Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the fact that all infrastructural aspects, issues related to equipping medical institutions, purchasing this or that equipment, are resolved exclusively in cooperation with the medical community, at the request of doctors. He recalled that 42 objects were brought into proper form or built from scratch in the healthcare sector during four years. Large-scale work in this direction continues. Confirmation of this is the announcement of 2022 as the Year of Healthcare.
Speaking about COVID-19, the main burden of combating which fell on medicine, the President called the pandemic a global exam, stressing that the Pridnestrovian healthcare system is coping with this test with dignity.
Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the issue of material remuneration for the work of doctors. The PMR President considers the level of salaries in the healthcare sector to be insufficient so far. The material incentives are growing gradually. Emphasis is placed on additional payments to the medical staff of infectious diseases hospitals, tuberculosis hospitals, and emergency medical services. Global spending on the fight against COVID-19 will stop with the end of the pandemic and the released funds will be used among other things to raise salaries for doctors, nurses, orderlies – everyone whose vocation and daily work is to preserve health and save lives.
The PMR President presented state awards and documents on conferring the honorary title "Honored Doctor of the PMR" to the most distinguished health workers of the republic.
