Tiraspol, September 10 /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Tiraspol extreme swimmers took parts in the Odessa stage of Oceanman the global international open water swimming Championships.
Two Pridnestrovians took part in the race at a two kilometers distance. Nikita Isachenko took the 32nd place in the absolute category, but Vadim Noshchenko finished by the 19th among all 220 swimmers. In the age category 60-69 years, the best result was showed by Vadim Noshchenko.
According to Vadim Noshchenko, at two kilometers distance, the winner is determined only in the absolute category, but in age categories usually only results of swimming are indicated. Thus, this’s the first place without an award.
Nevertheless, Pridnestrovians have been honored with awards. Tiraspol residents received medals for their participation in the swimming relay race, where the team of Vadim Noshchenko, Yuri Chipak and Denis Churganov finished fifth in line.
Earlier, Pridnestrovians took part in an intercontinental swimming across the Bosphorus strait. Competitions were held in Istanbul. At that time, Tiraspol extreme sportsmen overcame 6.5 kilometers distance from the Kanlydzha wharves in the Istanbul’s Asian part to the shoreline of the Dzhemil Topuzlu Park in the Kurucheshme region of the megametropolis’s European part.
In the swimming race across the Bosphorus strait, which was recognized by the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) as the Best Mass Swimming Competition in the World, Pridnestrovians take part annually.
This season, about 2,465 athletes from 55 world countries participated in the swimming race. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition was held without any spectators.
