Pridnestrovians remember the victims of the military aggression of Moldova against the peaceful Pridnestrovian people on the first day of August. This date was included in the calendar of memorable dates as the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow in 1994. It indicates the end of the 1992 war. Memorial events are held annually on the 1st of August in all towns and districts of the republic. Residents of the republic bring flowers to the monuments to the defenders and the graves of those whose lives were cut short as a result of the armed invasion of Moldovan nationalists in Pridnestrovie. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky on behalf of all Pridnestrovians laid a wreath to the Eternal Flame, flowers to the gravestones and pedestals of the monuments installed on the capital's Memorial of Glory.

The Memorial to the Victims of Fascism has been reopened in Dubossary after reconstruction. It is located on the site where more than 18000 civilians were executed in the fall of 1941.
