Vadim Krasnoselsky gave a lecture on the historical and legal foundations of the Pridnestrovian statehood at the Oxford Union discussion club in 2017. The invitation from Oxford was received then. The PMR President arrived in Great Britain to talk about modern Pridnestrovie, history and prerequisites for the creation of the republic. The speech of Vadim Krasnoselsky aroused increased interest that time. Many have announced their desire to visit Pridnestrovie. A group of representatives of the club's division, specializing in the Russian direction, realized their plans. The delegation arrived in the republic for several days. Today the Oxford Russian Club members were received by the PMR President. The meeting took place at the presidential executive office. It was held in the format of a free conversation. The conversation lasted about two hours - about a wide variety of topics. They have moved away from the principle of interviews in the course of the dialogue, when one side asks questions, the other answers: it was a democratic exchange of information and opinions. The guests are British university students from various countries, including France, Poland, Colombia, Latvia. Therefore, the topic of the conversation was appropriate – diverse from a geopolitical point of view.
The interlocutors discussed various foreign policy aspects, the course of the negotiation process and further prospects for the work of the "5 + 2" format, socio-economic situation in the republic, relations between the state and business – big and small. Vadim Krasnoselsky gave examples of Pridnestrovian exporters who have earned worldwide recognition. He spoke about the foreign trade contacts diversity. They asked the PMR President about relations with Russia. They mentioned the referendums on independence, specifying why the Pridnestrovians are in favor of independence with integration into the Russian Federation. Vadim Krasnoselsky replied that the inhabitants of the republic need peace and stability, and they are sure that this is real only in unity with Russia. The topic of the “Soviet legacy” was not ignored. This was discussed in detail and reasoned. Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention to the fact that the history of Pridnestrovie dates back not from Soviet or post-Soviet times, but goes back millennia. He noted that those who see around only the attributes of the times of the USSR are blinkered by stereotypes. The PMR President spoke about various milestones in the history of the region, stressing that Pridnestrovians treat both its heroic and tragic pages with equal respect. Vadim Krasnoselsky also mentioned antiquity, saying that this richest historical layer will soon be vividly represented in the renewed and museum network of the republic.
They spoke at the meeting about the wealth of nationalities and cultures represented in the Pridnestrovian society. The complete absence of signs of nationalism was noted. They discussed the situation with the coronavirus pandemic. They focused on the issues of infrastructural transformation of settlements. Some of the guests are not in Pridnestrovie for the first time, and they noted dramatic changes. The meeting participants indicated that they want to have time to get acquainted with as many historical and cultural objects as possible, as well as visit the enterprises of the republic if possible, the high level of equipment and quality of products of which they have heard a lot. There are plans to visit the Novo-Nyametsky Monastery in Kitskany. The excursion around the country began immediately after the end of the meeting with the PMR President. The first location is Catherine Park.
Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed the hope that young people will get acquainted with the true Pridnestrovie – a modern, democratic, economically developed and absolutely free state, the non-recognition of which by the international community is a pure formality. The guests in turn invited Vadim Krasnoselsky to visit Oxford.
