Moscow, May 18. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A delegation of deputies of the Supreme Council and heads of other government bodies continues their work in the XXIX International Educational Readings, which are taking place in Moscow. This year they are dedicated to the 800th anniversary of Alexander Nevsky`s birth, the press service of the PMR Supreme Council reports.

“Much emphasis is placed on the connection between history, present and future. Speaking of the exploits and achievements of Alexander Nevsky, they talk about the need for traditions, culture, history to be preserved and passed on from previous generations to future ones. They also say that the legislators have worked and are working in terms of adjusting and improving the current legislation aimed at interaction between the state and the church. Such hearings allow us to dive into the historical past, find out the truth about those events and understand the roots of Russian civilization and Russian culture,” Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council said.

The IX Parliamentary Readings were held today within the framework of the forum in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia addressed the parliamentarians. He stressed that the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation that were adopted last year create conditions for further improvement of the country's legislation, taking into account the basic traditional values.

Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin noted that during the Parliamentary meetings the participants came to valuable insights about the unity of history and the need for consensus. This means, he believes, that Russia has moved beyond those times when they thought about neither history nor the future.

“Despite the fact that we profess different ideologies, we have one country. A careful attitude to history is an important factor so that we do not make mistakes in the future,” Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized.

The Head of the United Russia faction Sergey Neverov is sure that the topics, which were discussed today at the Parliamentary Readings, will never become irrelevant. While knowledge of native history, heroes of the past and deeds of ancestors is an important basis for national identity.

“Alexander Nevsky was, perhaps, the first domestic leader in history who very clearly defined the vector of our country original development, rebuffing the troops of Western countries, who demanded to retreat from Orthodoxy. He entered into an agreement with the Horde, which was a historically correct decision that preserved the Orthodox faith for us,” Sergey Neverov reminded.

Within the framework of the Parliamentary Readings, representatives of the Pridnestrovian delegation took part in a round table on the topic “State and Church. Collaboration in the protection and strengthening of the spiritual and moral foundations of Russian society." The Forum within the framework of the Readings was organized and conducted by the State Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Issues of Public and Religious Associations.

“Today, unity is more important than ever. We must resist the aggression that is being carried out against us together - attacks on our history, information propaganda, "brainwashing" of our youth, attacks on our values and institutions of power. Major amendments have been made to the Constitution to protect traditional values. The common task of the state and the church is to make these norms really work,” Olga Timofeeva, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation said speaking at the round table.

According to the parliamentarian, the main attention should be paid to the youth, therefore, the presidential initiatives on patriotic education are implemented in the laws.

“Pridnestrovie, as a part of the Russian world, of course, knows the history of Russia. We are not indifferent when they try to rewrite and alter the history of the Russian State, changing the main milestones in the development of Russia, thereby distorting historical facts and turning the history of civilization into the history of a certain small nationality development. But we all perfectly understand that the civilization of the West, the Russian world and the East are great civilizations, each with its own path of moral and spiritual development. The readings are viewed as one more important opportunity to outline the history of Russian civilization and the preservation of the future civilization of the Russian world,” Alexander Korshunov, Speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament stressed.

Deputies of the State Duma, representatives of federal executive authorities, the Russian Orthodox Church, other centralized religious organizations, non-profit organizations, higher educational institutions, leading scientists and experts discussed issues of protecting the spiritual sovereignty of Russia, cooperation between the state and religious organizations in order to strengthen traditional spiritual and moral values , patriotic education of Russian youth, support for the social function of the Church. The results of the five-year joint work of the deputies and religious organizations to amend the current legislation of the Russian Federation were summed up.
