Viktor Skvortsov became the bronze medalist of the Asia-Oceania Judo Championship

Athlete from Pridnestrovie is on the preliminary list of athletes, selected for the Tokyo Olympics

Tiraspol, April 13. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. According to the Radio 1, the trainee of the Badanova Bendery wrestling school Viktor Skvortsov became the bronze medalist of the Asia-Oceania Judo Championship. The tournament was held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. Totally, about 195 athletes from 29 countries of the world took part in the competition.

Viktor Skvortsov competed in the weight category up to 73 kg as a member of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) team. The Pridnestrovian athlete, having achieved a quick victory over a judo player from Kuwait, then conceded in a tough fight to sportsman from China.

In consolatory battles, Viktor Skvortsov confidently defeated athletes from the Philippines as well as Kazakhstan, winning a bronze medal.

The championship winner was the Korean An Changrim, who is the third number of the world ranking. Viktor Skvortsov is on the preliminary list of athletes selected for the Tokyo Olympics. He is planning to compete in two more qualification tournaments where it possible to gain points. These are the Grand Slam in Kazan (on May 5-7) and the World Championship in Budapest (on June 6-13).

The qualification period will end up on June 28. After the list of participants in the Olympic Games will be refined.
